History of Ashurst Drive Baptist Church

1929  -  Church building and rear hall opened. The name chosen for the church was 'Eastern Avenue Baptist Church'.

1932  -  Rev F S Frape becomes the first full-time minister.

1935  -  The church is renamed 'Ashurst Drive Baptist Church'.

1938  -  Rev Frape resigns after 6 years of service.

1941  -  George Beasley-Murray becomes minister.

1948  -  George Beasley-Murray leaves Ashurst after 7 years of service.

1949  -  Rev Ernest Brown becomes the minister of Ashurst.

1955  -  Main hall and kitchen are added.

1957  -  Rev Brown retires after 8 years of service.

1959  -  Rev Leslie Moon becomes the minister of Ashurst.

1968  -  Two smaller halls and further kitchen are added.

1970  -  Rev Moon retires after 11 years of service.

1971  -  Rev John Thompson becomes the minister of Ashurst.

2003  -  Rev John Thompson retires after 32 years of service.

2005  -  Rev Richard Owen & Mrs Sue Owen join the Ministerial Team at Ashurst.

2006  -  Darren Street joins the Ministerial Team at Ashurst as assistant minister.
